Where are you from originally?
I am from Quito, Ecuador, the gateway to the stunning Galápagos Islands (you should look them up—they’re paradise!). My husband, Esteban, and I moved to the U.S. in 2014 in pursuit of education for our careers. Esteban is now a transplant surgeon, and I am a professional photographer.
When did you join FIT4MOM?
I joined FIT4MOM at the end of August 2024 after a couple of my neighbors suggested trying out a free class. It turned out to be the best decision ever!
What is your favorite thing about FIT4MOM?
I love having adult conversations with other moms who can relate to my motherhood journey. Plus, it’s amazing to be able to exercise with my baby and other moms by my side—it’s the perfect combination of fitness and support.
What do you currently do?
I’m currently a stay-at-home mom, caring for our six-month-old baby, Lucas, and our two wonderful dogs. Mila, our two-year-old Brittany, keeps us active, while Deko, our 15-year-old senior dog, fills our home with his sweet, calm presence.
Now that Lucas is getting a bit older, I’m preparing to launch my dream business in 2025: dog portrait photography! It’s a passion project I’ve been excited about for years, and I can’t wait to get started.
Share your thoughts on the concept of “it takes a village”—is it important for moms to join a village?
When I was pregnant, I thought I could handle everything on my own. Once Lucas arrived, I quickly realized how much I needed support. I was fortunate to have an amazing support system during those first three months, and I can’t imagine doing it without them.
The saying “it takes a village” couldn’t be more accurate. Having people to rely on, whether family, friends, or fellow moms, makes a world of difference. The days blur, and time flies by, so having a village helps keep you grounded and supported.
What is your favorite beverage?
Cold brew with a splash of oat milk and either caramel or lavender syrup—it’s the perfect pick-me-up!
What is your favorite dessert?
Ice cream! I could honestly eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
You are given 4 hours of FREE babysitting. What would you do?
It’s hard to imagine four hours to myself with a six-month-old baby, but I’d probably go on a long hike with my dog Mila, grab a coffee, and if there’s still time, take a much-needed nap!
What is your ultimate child-free vacation destination?
I haven’t had a child-free vacation since Lucas was born, but if I could plan one, it would be exploring the mountains of Italy. Tuscany, in particular, sounds dreamy—relaxing, enjoying delicious food, and catching up on books.
How has becoming a mother changed you?
This is a tough one. I’d love to say it hasn’t changed me, but it absolutely has. I’m still me at my core, but I’ve become more empathetic and patient, especially with other moms and my dogs.
Motherhood has shifted my priorities entirely—my baby and my dogs come first. I’ve also realized that I often put myself last, which can be tough when I feel pulled in every direction. There are days when it’s 5 p.m., and I still haven’t managed to shower. But through it all, I’m learning to balance my needs with those of my family.
I am happiest when…
I’m in nature! Hiking and exploring the outdoors bring me so much joy. I love capturing its beauty through photography and watching my dogs enjoy the woods, running free and happy.
