Meet Cassie, Our March Instructor of the Month

1. How did you first come to join Fit4Mom?

I first heard of Stroller Strides when my sister had my niece 14 years ago. I would travel from Maryland to North Carolina to come visit them and we would go to Stroller Strides. I knew then that when I had children I needed to find something like that. Then 7 years ago when we had Avery I looked into it and found that Stroller Strides had become FIT4MOM and we had one in our area in Virginia. I first joined as a client and then quickly became an instructor. When we were moving the owner of the VA location got me in contact with Amy (the owner of Chapel Hill at the time). I said I just wanted to be a client when we moved here but quickly found out Amy was in need of a Stroller instructor so I began teaching once a week for her. When I found out she was moving onto the next phase in her life and wanted to sell the business I knew I wanted to see it continue and thrive. Therefore, my husband and I decided the next step would be to buy this location and the rest is history!

2. How long / what classes do you teach? I have been teaching for FIT4MOM for six years and have owned the Chapel Hill location for just over a year. I currently teach Body Ignite on Thursday evenings and sub where needed :)

3. What do you love the most about being part of the Fit4Mom Community? I love everything about this community! It's so special and important for moms to be able to get together in a judgement free zone and talk about whatever it is they need to that day. It's also so nice that we have moms in every stage of motherhood so there is always someone to turn to no matter your needs.

4. What would you say to someone who is hesitant to check out our classes? I distinctly remember my first day and I was so nervous. I had no idea how to work my stroller, I had a four month old with me that I had no idea how she would do and I had never met any of these moms that all knew each other. It took me a few attempts of scheduling a class and canceling before I actually showed up but I was so thrilled once I went! Everyone was and still is so incredibly welcoming! None of my fears came true but it was way more beneficial than I ever expected. I didn't realize that it would give me a schedule to my day and help me immensely as a new mom. So what I would say is just do it, it's just one hour out of one of your days but it may just change your whole life, like it did for me!

5. Describe yourself in three words. Happy, Loving and Strong

6. Biggest "guilty pleasure"? I love a good pastry or donut

7. I'm happiest when... I'm with my family (especially at the beach).

8. One more interesting fact we don't know about you.

This is the 8th state I have lived in and hopefully my last :)
