Meet Caroline, Our October Mama of the Month

Where are you from originally?

I grew up in West Columbia, SC, but have lived here in the triangle area since 2003.

When did you join FIT4MOM

I joined in August of 2015, right after we moved to Briar Chapel. My first classes were a 8-week Body Back session, and I have been taking Body Back (now Body Well) classes regularly ever since!

What is your favorite thing about FIT4MOM?

The other Moms (of course!) as well as the great workouts! Even on the hardest days, I always know that if I can just make it to class, I will feel a million times better on my way home.

What do you currently do?

I work in the Office of Research Development at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. We help faculty members find collaborators and submit large grant proposals to fund their research.

Share your thoughts on the concept of “it takes a village” – is it important for moms to join a village?

Absolutely! Connection with others is so important, especially with people that understand what you are going through and accept you just as you are.

What is your favorite beverage?

That's easy. Coffee!

What is your favorite dessert?

This one is harder. If I must choose just one, I'd have to go with a chocolate and vanilla swirl soft-serve ice cream cone.

You are given 4 hours of FREE baby-sitting. What would you do?

Ha! My kiddos are a bit older now, so I don't need a baby-sitter per se. However, if I had 4 hours to not be shuttling my kids, feeding them, or otherwise sitting at sport practices, I would be sitting on the beach with some good tunes and a bubbly drink.

What is your ultimate child-free vacation destination?

A totally kids-free, five-star resort and spa hotel. The actual location does not matter! ;)

How has becoming a mother changed you?

Honestly, it's hard for me to come up with specifics at this point. I do remember the transition was really hard for me in the beginning. Now, being a mom is just who I am, and I cannot imagine life any other way.

I am happiest when...

I'm singing 80s songs or bouncing to 2000s hip-hop with my family and friends.
