Meet Amelia, Our January Mama of the Month!

Where are you from originally?

I was born and raised in Raleigh, NC.

When did you join FIT4MOM

I joined Fit4Mom in June 2021 when my first baby, Lilly was 6 weeks old.

What is your favorite thing about FIT4MOM?

My favorite thing about Fit4Mom is the community of moms who are or have gone through similar experiences and the friendships Lilly and I have made. Fit4Mom helped get my body moving with Stroller Strides and then eventually joined Sunday’s Run Club where I trained and ran my first Marathon at 6 weeks pregnant with my second baby, Ethan. Hopefully I can get back into running soon!

What do you currently do?

I am currently home full time with both of my kiddos. Before that I worked with people who have a diagnosis of autism and briefly in beer production.

Share your thoughts on the concept of “it takes a village” – is it important for moms to join a village?

I think it is so important to have a village because it can greatly benefit moms’ mental health. My mom, Grammy, comes once a week to hangout with the kids, which gives me a little break to get some chores done or spend one on one time with Lilly since so much of my attention is spent with baby Ethan. Joining Fit4Mom was the best thing I could have done. It got me out of the house, moving my body, meeting and chatting with other moms and Lilly being able to play with other children.

What is your favorite beverage?

I mostly drink water but I do enjoy a good margarita, specifically the one from Bar Taco!

What is your favorite dessert?

My favorite dessert is anything peanut butter and chocolate.

You are given 4 hours of FREE baby-sitting. What would you do?

If I had 4 free hours I would lay in my bed and binge watch a Netflix show.

What is your ultimate child-free vacation destination?

I would enjoy going to a really fancy resort for some relaxation and eat good food.

How has becoming a mother changed you?

Becoming a mother has made me a little Type A when it comes to our sleep schedule and expectations (anxious) of how people and environment interact with my children.

I am happiest when...I an happiest when my family is having good quality time together. Hearing my children laughing is the best!
