Meet Ali, Our January Mama of the Month!

Where are you originally from?

I grew up outside of Atlanta, GA.

When did you join FIT4MOM?

When my older son was a baby - so about five years ago.

What is your favorite thing about FIT4MOM?

Stroller strides fulfills all of my needs at once: being outside, exercise, mama connection, structuring my day, and being able to bring my baby.

What do you currently do?

I am currently at home, which still does not get the credit it deserves! Previously, I have been a teacher, psychotherapist, wilderness guide, and policy advocate...exploring what's next.

Share your thoughts on the concept of “it takes a village” – is it important for moms to join a village?

I believe this is vital. It is so easy to feel isolated, and mothering is incredibly challenging. Fit4Mom feels especially warm and welcoming as a community and provides a terrific outlet for so many of us.

What is your favorite beverage?

I wish it were different, but it's Dr. Pepper Cherry Coke Zero (they have been combined!).

What is your favorite dessert?

Baklava ice cream cake (yes, it's a thing!).

You are given 4 hours of FREE baby-sitting. What would you do?

Tough one! Date night or time alone for reading and yoga :)

What is your ultimate child-free vacation destination?

I haven't been to Hawaii yet. Going without children sounds pretty dreamy right now.

How has becoming a mother changed you?

Haha, in every way possible! More than anything, though, it has helped me to reassess my values and boundaries, which have had a significant impact on all of my relationships. That sounds vague, but probably makes sense to any mom.

I am happiest when...

I am active and connected to family and friends, and ideally outside (thanks, Fit4Mom!)
