Instructor, FIT4MOM® Chapel Hill
Jill was born and raised in California. She spent her college years enjoying the sunny San Diego beaches and lovely weather. In 2005, she and her best friend moved cross country to Carrboro to try something new, with no job or plan other than to spend a few months in North Carolina. After working a bit (and meeting her future husband in Chapel Hill), Jill left to spend 2 years in Ann Arbor, MI where she received her Master’s degree in Public Health in Health Behavior and Health Education. Jill returned to North Carolina after graduate school and eventually found herself at the UNC Kidney Center where she coordinates their kidney education and outreach program. Jill works with different communities throughout the state to help decrease the burden of chronic kidney disease and conducts screenings to check for early signs of kidney disease with at-risk populations. She is passionate about empowering people to take charge of their health, and learning what motivates them to make behavior change.
Jill now calls North Carolina home, and lives in Hillsborough with her husband, daughter (6.5 years) and son (3.5 year). Jill has always been active, playing soccer through high school, and fell in love with running during her time in San Diego. It wasn’t until grad school that Jill started running more frequently and longer; it has been a large part of her life ever since. After the arrival of her second child, Jill attended a Stroller Strides class and left dripping in sweat, having received a killer workout! She was recently a Body Back participant and discovered it was great strength training for running. She is so thrilled about all FIT4MOM Chapel Hill now has to offer to cater to a wide range of fitness levels and stages of motherhood! Outside of spending time exercising and with her family, Jill loves to cook and find new healthy recipes, and dreams of recipe testing full-time one day! She is thrilled to be a part of the FIT4MOM family!
