Emma Tzioumis

Instructor, FIT4MOM® Chapel Hill

Emma is from the greater Boston area, and has been living in Carrboro since 2011. She studied bioengineering at Syracuse University, and then worked in a research lab in Boston for a few years before going back for her Masters of Public Health at Boston University. Emma decided pursue her Doctorate in Nutrition at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and will graduate this summer. She had her son in the fall of 2014 and is due with baby #2 in October.

Emma’s past pursuits in physical activity range from running high school cross-country and track, playing rugby in college, running marathons in those post-college/pre-children years (when you have more time than you know what to do with, but don’t appreciate it), and boxing. Looking to continue her fitness goals post-baby, she discovered Stroller Strides at Carrboro's annual Rock The Baby event and her fate was sealed. When Body Back was offered in fall 2015, she got hooked on the intense workouts and has been a regular alumni participant ever since. FIT4MOM provides the opportunity to carry her academic pursuits and interests into the community to engage with women in this unique stage of life called motherhood. She is passionate about motivating women to meet their personal health and fitness goals, during pregnancy and beyond.
