Asli Serlo

Run Coach, FIT4MOM® Chapel Hill

Asli was born and raised in Michigan where she attended the University of Michigan for her undergraduate degree in psychology. She later earned a dual Master's degree in Social Work and Public Health with concentrations in interpersonal practice, and health behavior and health education. After getting married and living and working in Gainesville, Florida, Asli and her husband moved to North Carolina. Asli got a job as a Clinical Social Worker at UNC Children's Hospital where she worked with children with cystic fibrosis and their families for over 10 years. She loved her work but decided to shift gear and stay at home with her 2 boys just before her youngest son was born. Asli, her husband, and their two sons reside in Chapel Hill.

Asli started running for exercise and stress relief in college, but did not run her first 5K until her late 20s. She ran her first half marathon in 2008 and was hooked on longer distance running. She ran two more half marathons in the following years and has run the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler in Washington DC 7 out of the last 8 years. After having her first child, Asli discovered Stroller Strides and found strength and core training made a big impact on her running. It was also a great chance to socialize with other area moms. She enrolled in her first full Body Back session in early 2018 and was immediately hooked, finding it provided an even more intense workout and greater strength training. Asli loves that FIT4MOM has not only made a huge impact on her health and fitness but it's provided a chance for her boys to see the importance of exercise and taking care of their bodies. Asli is thrilled and honored to be a part of this amazing FIT4MOM community with women who support and challenge each other to be physically and mentally stronger.
