Abby was born and raised in the Durham area. Drawn to dance and movement at a young age, she studied dance at East Carolina University. When health concerns shortened plans for a professional dance career, she learned to mix a mean drink as a bartender, and there she met her husband, a Marine. While he was deployed, Abby reconnected with dance by teaching Zumba and practicing yoga. Following a move to Miami, Abby found a deeper and more thoughtful group of yogis and began a full time dedicated yoga practice. In 2015, she completed the required 200 hours yoga teacher training and taught classes until eight months pregnant. Her husband starting business school brought her family back to Chapel Hill, where their daughter Nora was born in June 2015. While happy to be back home, Abby struggled with postpartum depression and her husband’s absence in school. She turned to the lessons of breathing and mindfulness in her practice of yoga to regain peace. Abby joined FIT4MOM in September 2015 with Stroller Strides and Stroller Barre classes. She loves having the FIT4MOM community to grow with. Abby is excited to share her love of yoga with other mothers. She believes yoga allows us the freedom to be whoever we are without judgement and if there is space to breathe, there is space to move. Abby also teaches Stroller Barre Core Flow. Abby also organizes our Mom's Night Out events!
