Originally from upstate New York, Amy studied Human Development at Cornell University and went on to live in several different cities, including London, Boston, Durham, Charlotte, Atlanta, Fort Lauderdale, and most recently Alexandria, VA. Amy received her MBA along the way, and after eight years working in University operations, she took a professional break in 2013 to stay home with her daughter Sophie. Exploring local new mom resources, Amy discovered Stroller Strides when Sophie was just eight weeks old. As a runner, Spinning instructor, and former collegiate rower, Amy instantly took to the energetic, motivating workouts. She found herself stronger, more energetic, and loved meeting other strong mamas. Encouraged by fellow moms, Amy added half marathon to her list of completed races before Sophie's 1st birthday. FIT4MOM has truly given her the strength for motherhood and helped her find time for her own passions. When she and husband Corey moved to Chapel Hill in January 2015, Amy knew she had to bring FIT4MOM with her! Running the new franchise marries Amy’s passion for business, fitness, community, and motherhood!

Abby was born and raised in the Durham area. Drawn to dance and movement at a young age, she studied dance at East Carolina University. When health concerns shortened plans for a professional dance career, she learned to mix a mean drink as a bartender, and there she met her husband, a Marine. While he was deployed, Abby reconnected with dance by teaching Zumba and practicing yoga. Following a move to Miami, Abby found a deeper and more thoughtful group of yogis and began a full time dedicated yoga practice. In 2015, she completed the required 200 hours yoga teacher training and taught classes until eight months pregnant. Her husband starting business school brought her family back to Chapel Hill, where their daughter Nora was born in June 2015. While happy to be back home, Abby struggled with postpartum depression and her husband’s absence in school. She turned to the lessons of breathing and mindfulness in her practice of yoga to regain peace. Abby joined FIT4MOM in September 2015 with Stroller Strides and Stroller Barre classes. She loves having the FIT4MOM community to grow with. Abby is excited to share her love of yoga with other mothers. She believes yoga allows us the freedom to be whoever we are without judgement and if there is space to breathe, there is space to move. Abby also teaches Stroller Barre Core Flow.

Abby organizes our Mom's Night Out and FIT4MOM Family Events. Check out our upcoming events HERE.

Callie moved to Chapel Hill in 2016 from Long Island, NY where she was born and raised. Initially, Callie had been pursuing an undergraduate degree in political science with the expectation of going to law school. That changed, however, while working at a rehabilitation center for senior citizens. That’s when Callie began to realize her true calling as a nurse. It wasn’t until two years following completion of her political science degree that Callie, with the encouragement of her then fiancé, Robert, mustered the courage to pursue a second degree in nursing.

Callie knew nursing school would be a challenge in and of itself, and the challenge would be further compounded by the fact that she was planning a wedding and looking forward to starting a family. However, within three short years Callie graduated from her nursing program with honors, all while being a dedicated wife and creating a family that would include two children, Leah and Charlie, by the time she became a Registered Nurse.

Since moving to Chapel Hill Callie joined UNC as an RN in the Emergency Department, and her family welcomed their newest addition, Benjamin. While life as a nurse with three small children is extremely hectic, Callie would tell you that she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Callie joined FIT4MOM as a member in 2017 and quickly realized the benefits of both staying in shape and making connections with an extraordinary group of women. In fact, FIT4MOM has been instrumental in helping Callie found some of the best friendships she’s made since moving from Long Island. Callie came aboard as our American Red Cross Course Instructor in January 2018. In this role, Callie delivers one of our core values of nurturing connections and community education by instructing two American Red Cross Certification Courses: Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED and Babysitting & Child Care Training.

Certifications: Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Trauma Nursing Core Course, Crisis Prevention, American Red Cross Course Instructor

Jill was born and raised in California. She spent her college years enjoying the sunny San Diego beaches and lovely weather. In 2005, she and her best friend moved cross country to Carrboro to try something new, with no job or plan other than to spend a few months in North Carolina. After working a bit (and meeting her future husband in Chapel Hill), Jill left to spend 2 years in Ann Arbor, MI where she received her Master’s degree in Public Health in Health Behavior and Health Education. Jill returned to North Carolina after graduate school and eventually found herself at the UNC Kidney Center where she coordinates their kidney education and outreach program. Jill works with different communities throughout the state to help decrease the burden of chronic kidney disease and conducts screenings to check for early signs of kidney disease with at-risk populations. She is passionate about empowering people to take charge of their health, and learning what motivates them to make behavior change.

Jill now calls North Carolina home, and lives in Hillsborough with her husband, daughter (6.5 years) and son (3.5 year). Jill has always been active, playing soccer through high school, and fell in love with running during her time in San Diego. It wasn’t until grad school that Jill started running more frequently and longer; it has been a large part of her life ever since. After the arrival of her second child, Jill attended a Stroller Strides class and left dripping in sweat, having received a killer workout! She was recently a Body Back participant and discovered it was great strength training for running. She is so thrilled about all FIT4MOM Chapel Hill now has to offer to cater to a wide range of fitness levels and stages of motherhood! Outside of spending time exercising and with her family, Jill loves to cook and find new healthy recipes, and dreams of recipe testing full-time one day! She is thrilled to be a part of the FIT4MOM family!

"Moms on a Mission" Coordinator, FIT4MOM® Chapel Hill

Originally from North Carolina, Kelsi graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor in Social Work degree which required over 600 hours of internship and volunteer hours. She had experiences that pushed her out of her comfort zone, met incredible people and learned so much from their diverse perspectives. One internship was working under the North Carolina Social Work Director of Advocacy where she learned the importance of one strong voice. She then earned her Masters of Social Work Degree from East Carolina University where her studies were focused in clinical therapy for survivors of childhood trauma.

After University, Kelsi moved from Raleigh to 5 acres in Pittsboro with her husband, Dylan. They raised chickens, bees and found a passion for growing and preserving their own food. Kelsi started her own Etsy business that was featured in the 2012 US Weekly holiday issue. After five long and difficult years of trying to start their family, they welcomed a healthy baby boy, Garrett, to the farm in 2013.

In 2015, Kelsi and family moved to Chapel Hill where she stays at home raising their son. She has started a Preschool Coop, Haw River Tots, that now has a second generation of little ones, is an active board member for a local preschool and a neighborhood mom group. Kristen (aka Krissy), originally from Maryland, moved to Carrboro with her husband, Kurt, in 2010, for her job in global health. She has a Master’s degree in Public Health and works on research studies and projects that aim to improve public health systems in low-income countries. Their son, Marek, was born in October 2011 and daughter, Greta, in January 2014.

A lifelong fan of group fitness classes, Krissy often joined her Mom at Jazzercise as a kid, taught step aerobics and weight training classes in college and taught indoor cycling classes at a gym near her job in D.C. Much of childhood and college was spent as a competitive individual and synchronized figure skater. Realizing the Olympics was not in the cards, she joined club lacrosse and water skiing teams in college for fun and friendship. An avid swimmer growing up and a love of competition got her hooked on triathlons in her mid-20s.

After becoming a full-time working parent, the years of 6 day-a-week hours-long workouts were over. A few months after the birth of her son, she joined a group fitness class at her work gym where she realized the amazing benefits of high-intensity interval training and the fun and accountability gained by working out with an awesome group of women. In a year, she felt stronger and fitter than she’d ever been. Much less partying and snacking, as well as being married to a fitness fanatic, helped too. Krissy is excited to be a part of the FIT4MOM team as a Body Back instructor in Carrboro.

Lindsey was raised in Chapel Hill, but her love for Colorado and the outdoors led her to attend the University of Colorado, Boulder. There she majored in English Literature and Sociology. Shortly after graduating from CU, and a short stint in NYC, Lindsey moved back to North Carolina to pursue a nursing degree. She worked as a Pediatric Registered Nurse in Charlotte and in Greensboro until her daughter Janie was born in 2014.

Lindsey fell in love with Fit4Mom after attending Chapel Hill’s Grand Opening. She was immediately hooked! She loved that she could receive a total body workout with a great group of women all the while having her daughter in tow. A few months after attending the Grand Opening, Lindsey trained to become a certified Fit4Mom instructor, but her family was living in Greensboro, so she was unable to teach in Chapel Hill. Once her family moved back to Chapel Hill in 2017 she began taking Fit4Baby while pregnant with her second child. After her son Henry was born she could not wait to start Stroller Strides and Stroller Barre classes.

As a dancer, Lindsey always appreciated being active, but it has become more of top priority for her after having children. She and her husband, Cort want to set an example for their kids, so they know that exercising is not only important for the body but also the mind and heart.

Lindsey is a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School and the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.

Nikki, originally from Iowa, moved to Chapel Hill with her family in October 2014. For the last 5 ½ years, she lived in New York City and prior to that Miami. Nikki graduated from the University of Iowa College of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked in the operating room as a circulating and scrub nurse for many years. After the birth of her first son, Nikki decided to step away from nursing to stay home and raise her now 5 year old, 3 year old, and 6 month old boys. It was during those first few months of motherhood that she attended a stroller based fitness class in NYC. This was a fantastic find as not only did she get a great workout, but also made some lifelong friends. This is one of the many reasons that Nikki is passionate about teaching Stroller Strides. It’s a fabulous way to get a hard core, muscle building, aerobic workout, but at the same time having the support of other women tackling the rigors of motherhood. Health and fitness have always been a part of Nikki’s lifestyle and she is excited to teach what she loves.

Nikki is an avid runner and enjoys doing road races, with or without the stroller. She has run four marathons: Chicago, Boston, Miami, and New York City. She loves taking her children on adventurous day trips to find new places to explore. Many times you can find them exploring museums, parks and playgrounds, and anything that has to do with trains and airplanes! She’ll also encourage everyone to try and sneak away to attend the monthly Fit4Mom Moms Night Outs. A perfect way to relax after a long day!

Sarah is a Chapel Hill/Carrboro native. She went to middle school, high school, and undergraduate right here in town. After 10 years spent away in Nashville and St. Louis, Sarah moved back to Chapel Hill in 2016 so her partner could go to law school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Sarah’s twins, Charlie and Payton, were born in 2017.

Sarah is an occupational therapist and has an extensive background working with people with physical and developmental disabilities. In St. Louis, she taught fitness classes for adults with Parkinson’s disease. Sarah also completed a 200 hour yoga teacher training program and hopes to teach adaptive yoga classes in the future. Currently, Sarah stays home with her children part-time and is in school completing a Master of Divinity degree with the hope of becoming a Unitarian chaplain. She enjoys staying active with her family, reading, and cooking pancakes for the family on Saturday mornings.

FIT4MOM provided a network of support during Sarah’s pregnancy through Fit4Baby classes as well as after the birth of her twins through Stroller Strides and Stroller Barre classes. The most surprising thing about Fit4Mom for Sarah was how fun and laid back the classes are. Does your baby cry throughout the entire class? No problem! Do you need someone to hold one baby while you change the other? No problem! FIT4MOM's got you covered.

Certifications: Prenatal and Postnatal Instructor for FIT4MOM Stroller Strides®, Stroller Barre®, Fit4Baby®; 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training; American Red Cross First Aid; Adult; Child, & Infant CPR

Playgroup Captain, FIT4MOM® Chapel Hill

Sarah grew up in an Army family, living a dozen places before graduating from high school. She studied sociology at the University of Washington before moving to Los Angeles with Teach For America in 2006. There she taught middle school English and history and earned her Master of Arts degree in Education from Loyola Marymount. Sarah completed her first marathon in 2008 and was inspired to start a chapter of Students Run L.A., a non-profit that trains at-risk youth to complete a marathon. She coached students through three seasons of the L.A. Marathon.

In 2011, Sarah left L.A. for a year of volunteering and exploring via camper van, with now-husband Ryan. A two-year stint in Lansing, Michigan after the adventure provided Sarah the opportunity to work with 4th-8th grade classrooms as an Academic Specialist. She also co-chaired the Students, Spouses, and Significant Others group for Ryan’s MBA program, organizing events and activities for students and their families.

Sarah and Ryan moved to Portland, Oregon in 2014, and welcomed their first son, Cole, in June. Little brother Hudson followed in March 2016. Wanting to be closer to family, they relocated to Chapel Hill at the end of 2016. Finding FIT4MOM shortly after moving was the final piece in Sarah’s recovery from postpartum depression. The sense of community she felt in FIT4MOM classes anchored her something more than the struggles of motherhood and made her feel at home in North Carolina.

In her role as Playgroup Captain, Sarah plans and orchestrates weekly playgroup activities held on Fridays after Stroller Strides. Playgroups vary in themes and activities for little ones to learn and explore. She also helps us celebrates birthdays every month with snacks & "Happy Birthday to You!" during playgroup on the last Friday of the month.
